About Me

I am currently an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition and a Writing Program Administrator in the Department of English at Humboldt State University. I earned my Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue University and my M.A. in English at the University of Maine where I held teaching and programmatic appointments. As someone committed to engaged pedagogy, inquiry-based research, and service-learning, my work and my students’ learning has also extended beyond the university to include projects with partners such as McKinleyville Middle School, the City of West Lafayette, the Tippecanoe County Historical Association, and the Purdue Cancer Culture and Community Colloquium.

As a scholar, I draw on my background in Writing Program Administration and Professional Writing to investigate the relationships between writing practice, pedagogy, and programs. I currently serve as a member of the Council of Writing Program Administrators Task Force on Intellectual Work and a faculty mentor for the graduate organization WPA-GO. Additionally, I served as a Stage I and Stage II reviewer for the Conference on College Composition and Communication’s 2015 Convention.
